Looking back at another memorable Sea Festival 2026, Klaipeda Lithuania!
The Lithuanian Seafarers’ Union proudly took part in a series of meaningful events throughout the celebration, including the traditional parade, the official opening ceremony, commemorative tributes to those lost at sea, remembrance ceremonies honoring the crew of Linkuva and Lithuania’s first Port Captain Ludvikas Stulpinas, as well as community gatherings celebrating maritime heritage.
During the official opening ceremony, outstanding members of Lithuania’s maritime community were recognized for their dedication and achievements:
- Captain Rimvydas Pilitauskas was awarded the title of Lithuanian Seafarer of the Year 2026 for his exceptional courage and professionalism in rescuing five Brazilian fishermen in the Atlantic Ocean.
- Jonas Praniauskas received the Letter of Appreciation from the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Lithuania for his lifelong contribution to the maritime industry and the preservation of Lithuania’s maritime traditions.
- The prestigious Maritime Veteran distinction was presented to experienced seafarers in recognition of their decades of dedicated service at sea.
Congratulations to all the award recipients and sincere thanks to everyone who represented the Lithuanian Seafarers’ Union with pride throughout the Sea Festival.
